The Highlands is a gorgeous new build in Texas. I designed the entire home virtually, from floorplans to finishing touches. This project shows how powerful interior design can be, even from a distance.
Personal Touches in a New Build
The homeowners, a retired couple, reached out mid-construction. They were building in a high-end spec neighborhood, and some design choices were already made. I stepped in to elevate those selections and bring their vision to life.
The builder painted the kitchen and bathroom cabinets blue. It didn’t feel right for the clean, airy look they wanted. We painted everything soft white, and it instantly changed the feel of the home. From there, I added custom furnishings, thoughtful decor, and plenty of personality.
A Light and Layered Look
The design style leaned coastal, clean, and relaxed. Think light woods, soft blues, natural textures, and lots of white. It has that easy, breezy feel that’s timeless but fresh. The homeowner loved a Serena & Lily vibe, and we made that come through in every space.
I space-planned everything, sourced through my trade accounts, and had items shipped directly to them. No warehouse needed. Every piece arrived ready to go, and the result is a home that feels curated, cozy, and complete.
Designing The Highlands was such a joy. Even though I never visited in person, we created a home that feels warm, layered, and entirely their own. That’s the magic of great interior design, it meets you wherever you are.
