Goldplaited Tampa: A Chic Salon Redesign with Mid-Century Modern Flair

As an Orlando interior designer, there’s nothing more rewarding than bringing a client’s vision to life. While creating a space that’s both stunning and functional. When I was approached to design Goldplaited Tampa, the third location for this beloved salon brand. Already thriving in Chicago and another city, I knew we had an exciting opportunity to craft something special.

Located in Hyde Park, Tampa, Goldplaited moved into a charming bungalow-style space, giving us a beautiful canvas to work with. We were given the freedom to completely transform the interior, ensuring it not only exuded style but also met the practical needs of a bustling salon.

Designing the Goldplaited Experience

Our design vision embraced a mid-century modern aesthetic. Blending warm tones, sleek finishes, and carefully curated textures to create an inviting yet sophisticated ambiance.

One of the first major changes was updating the tile and hair washing station to enhance both the functionality and the aesthetic appeal. These areas needed to be durable and comfortable while maintaining the salon’s signature high-end feel.

For the ceiling, we took a bold yet elegant approach by painting it a soft, blush pink. This subtle touch added warmth and femininity to the space without overwhelming it. But the real showstopper? A breathtaking butterfly wallpaper—undoubtedly my favorite element in the entire design. The delicate yet bold pattern created a striking focal point while reinforcing the salon’s elegant and whimsical vibe.

As soon as clients step into Goldplaited, they’re welcomed by a stunning green reception desk, setting the tone for the entire space. We paired it with luxurious leather chairs, adding both comfort and an elevated touch. To bring warmth and sophistication, we incorporated brass lighting fixtures. These beautifully complement the overall palette and add just the right amount of glamour.

Balancing Beauty and Functionality

While aesthetics were key, functionality was equally important. A salon is a high-traffic, high-energy environment, and every design choice needed to support the stylists’ workflow while ensuring a seamless experience for clients. From strategic lighting placement to durable yet stylish materials, every element was carefully considered to enhance both the beauty and practicality of the space.

In the end, Goldplaited Tampa is a perfect blend of mid-century modern sophistication and salon functionality. Creating an atmosphere that feels effortlessly chic yet completely welcoming. It was an absolute joy to bring this project to life, and I can’t wait for clients to experience this space designed with both style and purpose in mind.
