As an interior designer, one of my favorite types of projects is helping families breathe new life into spaces they already love. This Lake Nona kitchen refresh without renovation was exactly that kind of transformation. The homeowners were happy with their layout and original custom cabinetry, but they wanted a lighter, more updated look. Instead of a full renovation, we focused on thoughtful, high-impact design updates that completely elevated the space.
The existing cabinets were high-quality and custom-built, so we knew they were worth keeping. To brighten the space and give it a fresh feel, we painted the cabinets in Benjamin Moore Pale Oak. This soft, warm neutral worked beautifully with the natural light in the kitchen and helped us achieve that “light and bright” look the clients were hoping for.
Next, we turned our attention to the details. We swapped out the dated hardware for modern, brushed metal pulls that feel clean and timeless. The old lighting was replaced with simple yet sophisticated pendant fixtures in white and silver, which added elegance without being overpowering. These subtle changes gave the kitchen a cohesive, designer feel.
The countertops were replaced with Taj Mahal quartzite, a gorgeous stone that offers durability and soft veining—perfect for a busy family kitchen. We paired this with a neutral marble tile backsplash in a herringbone pattern to bring just enough texture to the walls while keeping the palette calm and consistent.
To finish the space, we selected light wood barstools with crisp white cushions. These not only provided a practical seating solution but also introduced natural elements that warmed up the space and complemented the cabinetry.
This Lake Nona kitchen is a great example of what’s possible with thoughtful design. As an interior designer, I love helping clients find smart, stylish solutions that feel personal and livable. By preserving the best parts of this home and layering in key updates, we created a kitchen that feels both refreshed and rooted in the family’s everyday life.
