Interior Design Collins & Co. Bringing New Life to a Classic Home

As an interior designer, one of my greatest joys is transforming spaces to reflect my clients’ lifestyles while maintaining the integrity of their home’s original character. The Valencia Residence was a special project—one that beautifully blended modern elegance with timeless design.

Located in the Country Club of Orlando, this home had great bones but needed a fresh perspective. While we didn’t move any walls, we did reimagine the layout by opening up walkways to improve flow and functionality. The result is a home that feels more spacious, inviting, and effortlessly stylish.

One of the standout features of this redesign is the layering of textures and materials.

The staircase, for example, kept its original railing, which added a touch of classic charm, but we enhanced the space with custom woodwork and a fresh, modern color palette. The foyer received special attention, with thoughtful styling that welcomes guests into the home while maintaining a practical and inviting look.

The living room transformation is one of my favorite parts of this project. The original fireplace was beautiful but needed an update, so we added a sleek tile surround and built-in arches with cabinetry underneath. This not only modernized the space but also created functional storage for a busy family. The built-ins frame the fireplace beautifully, giving the room a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.

For a family with four kids and three dogs, functionality was key.

Every design choice had to support their daily life while still making the home feel stylish. One of the biggest transformations was turning a disorganized playroom into a moody sitting room. This space, which once stood out as cluttered and chaotic, is now a cozy retreat where the family can enjoy coffee, unwind, or watch a movie. It’s now one of the most inviting rooms in the home and a personal favorite of mine.

Throughout the home, we used lighting, wallpaper, and thoughtful furniture choices to add layers of warmth and personality. Every detail was carefully considered to create a home that is as beautiful as it is practical. The Valencia Residence was a rewarding project, and seeing the homeowners enjoy their newly designed space made every step of the process worthwhile.
